All our cosmetic products have been independently assessed for safety, undergone stability testing and have been filed on the Cosmetic Product Notification Portal. Each has been hand made with bee products to provide a unique "Chiltern Bee" perspective. This includes our range of "NAKED BEE" products that have been specifically formulated to minimise additives, for example NAKED BEE Lip balm and Skin Balm only have three ingredients, Chiltern Bee Beeswax plus an oil and a butter
The basic soap formulation is made with:-
- Coconut Oil
- Palm Oil (RSPO Cert)
- Olive Oil
- Sunflower Oil
- Chiltern Bee Beeswax
Plus Lye.
To this base we also add essential oils and rolled oats. Products:-
- Naked Bee
- Chiltern Bee Honey & Rolled Oats
- Lavender
- Lime
Important. Soap making with beeswax is challenging as it goes to trace (sets) very quickly. So to make things even more difficult we decided to use an intricate bee mold. This means every soap will have minor casting imperfections.
Our base bathbomb is made with four ingredients:-
- Sodium Barcarbonate
- Citric Acid
- Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Chiltern Bee Honey
To the Naked Bee formulation we add four oils to give four products:-
- Naked Bee
- Mandarin & Grapefruit
- Lavender
- Lime
Unlike many bathbombs there is no added water which means they tend to be denser (so heavier, giving more fizz!)
Note, these are wrapped in clingfilm to reduce water ingress. To reduce environmental impact this is non PVC and recyclable
Our lipbalm base is just made with three ingredients:-
- Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Shea Butter
- Chiltern Bee Beeswax
To this base we add six oils/flavours to give seven products:
- Naked Bee
- Orange essential oil
- Lemon essential oil
- Strawberry
- Cherry
- Champagne
- Gin & Tonic
Considering a normal lipbalm stick is ~£4 and is 5ml, these are 20ml. Hence it generally works out cheaper than a high street product.
Skin Balm is made from:-
- Sweet Almond Oil
- Coconut Oil
- Chiltern Bee Beeswax
To the Naked Bee formulation we add four oils to give four products:-
- Naked Bee
- Mandarin & Grapefruit
- Lavender
- Lime
These are richer than "hand cream" hence the name "Balm", similar formulation to our lipbalms. Noted these are four times larger than the lip balms tins (but only just over twice the price).
Our honey is "raw" in that there is minimal processing. The honey comes out of the hive, spun from the comb, passed through a sieve and into the jar.
No fine filtration, no heating.
On the back of the jars we have a provenance label which includes info like location, bee species (always our local bee, AMM), season, .... and Queen name!
Cut Comb is proper Old Skool honey. It is literally a section of honey comb cut out of the hive super frame.
First question, is can you eat the wax? Absolutely, it is completely edible so you can spread it all on your toast.
I only have a few of these each year and they go quick. Also, I can't send it by post so will need to deliver it so only available if you live in the Wycombe/Marlow/Henley/Stokenchurch area
Beeswax Candles are very different to the normal candles you find in the shops. These are 100% pure beeswax which means they burn differently to normal candles:-
- They burn at a much higher temperature
- This means near complete combustion
- Which means very little soot
- Traditionally associated with places of worship
We make these in two sizes which have a honeycomb pattern.
- Small (burn 12-14 hrs) with bee on top
- Large (burn ~20 hrs) with bees on side
Following a LOT of requests I have produced Chopping Board Conditioner to keep your boards in tip top condition. This only has two ingredients:-
- Food Grade Mineral Oil
- Beeswax
Note, we use the beeswax we use with our cosmetics which means it it tested at a microbiology laboratory to check no bacterial contamination.
Not pigmented but recommended you try on a inconspicuous spot just to make sure it works with your board.
Obviously the Chilterns have massive historical importance re furniture (and also my Dad was a antique furniture restorer and Brother carpenter) so really nice to make this.
- Raw linseed oil
- Beeswax
- Carnauba wax
Does what it says on the tin, we add the carnauba to add shine.
Not pigmented but recommended you try on a inconspicuous spot just to make sure it works with your furniture.
Shoes, Chairs, Coats, treat them to some conditioner.
- Olive oil
- Coconut butter
- Beeswax
- Carnauba wax
Oil and butter moisuturise the leather, carnauba to add shine and the beeswax (among other things) add protection and seal.
Not pigmented but recommended you try on a inconspicuous spot just to make sure it works with your leather.
